 100 days at school ~ 2015

On Friday R8 celebrated 100 days of school.

We cut out and decorated paper crowns with 100 pieces of coloured paper confetti. 100 is a big number and quite difficult to count but we know how to count in groups of 10s. We first stuck on 10 pieces of 1 colour and then 10 pieces in a different colour and kept going till we had 9 different colours stuck to out crowns. For the last 10 pieces we got to stick on pieces of silver paper.

We used the 100 abacus to help calculate how many more pieces we needed to glue on. It took us a long time to glue on 100 pieces but we did not give up.

After lunch we wore our crowns, read books together and ate biscuits that we had decorated with ‘Hundreds and Thousands’. Now that we know how to count to 100 our next goal is to learn to count to 1000.
